- 6 strips thick-cut bacon
- 1/2 medium onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup dry white wine
- 1/4 cup DeLallo Double Concentrated Tomato Paste
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 3/4 cup heavy/whipping cream
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (or to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 pound DeLallo Potato Gnocchi (uncooked)
- 1 small handful fresh basil (sliced thin/torn)
- Freshly grated parmesan cheese (for serving, optional but recommended)
- Salt & pepper (to taste)
Instructions
- Cut the bacon into small pieces and fry in a skillet over medium-high heat until crispy.
- Sauté chopped onion in the bacon fat until soft and translucent.
- Add minced garlic and pour in dry white wine. Reduce the mixture by half.
- Stir in tomato paste, chicken broth, heavy cream, crushed red pepper flakes, and Italian seasoning.
- Add uncooked gnocchi to the bubbling sauce and cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Fold in cooked bacon and fresh basil before serving.
- Serve immediately with freshly grated parmesan cheese, if desired.
Notes
For a lighter version, consider using turkey bacon instead of thick-cut bacon.
Adjust the amount of crushed red pepper flakes to suit your spice preference.
For a vegetarian option, omit the bacon and use vegetable broth.
